Workplan
WP1 Project management and coordination
To ensure execution of the project according to contract and its objectives, as well as to ensure efficient co-ordination, fluent communication to partners and the EC, timely reporting, and delivery of results.
WP2 ESS 1: Superconducting magnetic storage for marive applications
To promote the Innovative Output 1 of the project: A marinized SMES based on CERN high-field superconducting magnets.
WP3 ESS 2: KESS Kinetic Energy Storage System (Flywheel) for marine applications
To develop and provide the Innovative Output 2 of the project: A slow flywheel for waterborne transport.
WP4 ESS 3: EES Electric Energy Storage System (Supercapacitors) for marine applications
To develop and provide the Innovative Output 3 of the project: A supercapacitor based ESS for marine applications.
WP5 Modelling and integration of ESS on vessel, and with other disruptive technologies
To integrate the FRESS technologies developed in the previous WP into the Electric & Propulsions Design for the selected use cases. This will include requirements identification and definition, sizing of equipment and development of mechatronic models to simulate the electric network and equipment onboard.
WP6 Risk assessment and safety studies
To study the “Safety” issues linked to the implementation of FRESS, their hybridization with batteries and/or other disruptive technologies onboard and the impact on the Ship Design.
WP7 Lifecycle and economic assessment
To analyse the lifecycle costs (LCC) and the Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) to assess comprehensively the profitability and the market potential of FRESS solutions in Shipbuilding, as well as their lifetime environmental impact.
WP8 Communication and dissemination
To promote and communicate the results and progress of the project with market and industrial stakeholders, as well as social groups and citizens.
